Our Story
Keke Publishing is named for the man who showed me what it means to show up — and built to be that for every parent still in the fight.
This isn't just a website. This is a promise.
It started when my son was five years old. A kindergarten teacher called to tell me my son had been made to sit in a corner facing a wall — punished for behavior she didn't understand and made no effort to. He was five. He had autism. And the system's first response was to punish him for it.
That phone call was the beginning of a years-long fight I didn't know I was signing up for. Meeting after meeting. Services that kept increasing. Nothing truly changing.
I had two baby girls at home — one and three years old. A husband who told me he couldn't handle his son's diagnosis and walked away. And a system that kept scheduling IEP meetings, adding services on paper, and delivering almost nothing in reality. Year after year, I sat at those tables not fully understanding what I was entitled to ask for, what my son was protected by, or what I could do when the school failed him.
By fourth grade, a teacher openly told the IEP team she didn't like my son's plan and refused to follow it. That was a violation of federal law. She was suspended for two days. And while that felt like a small consequence for something so serious, it cracked a door open — it gave my son access to a therapeutic school placement that finally, truly changed the course of his life.
But before that door opened, my nine-year-old son spent ten days hospitalized. He had articulated a well-crafted plan to end his life. He was nine years old.

Through all of it — the meetings, the hospitalizations, the grief of watching the system fail your child over and over — my brother stood next to me every single minute. Not with opinions. Not with judgment. Just present. Just there. When my husband walked away, Keke stayed. He is my brother. My ride or die. The reason this brand carries his name.
After my son's placement changed everything, I found a nonprofit that trained parents as special education advocates. I completed 50 hours of pro bono work and discovered a passion I never knew I had. I made it my absolute business to understand every right I had as a parent and every legal protection guaranteed to my child.
